Jazfossilator
Found Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Where Cretaceous, Pliocene, and Pleistocene aged material can be found. I’m not sure what this is, at first I thought it was some kind of boring but it seems that is just because some of the ‘circles’ have fallen out. Any help greatly appreciated! Very small details so these photos were taken under a magnifying lense.

SailingAlongToo
Looks like a bunch of barnacles were attached to a rock. Probably modern. Al Dente
Looking at the scale, the little round objects are less than a millimeter. Reminds me of oolites. If so, this rock was transported from somewhere else.

Herb
after enlarging and enhancing the photo I agree with oolites also "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence"_ Carl Sagen No trees were killed in this posting......however, many innocent electrons were diverted from where they originally intended to go. If it oolitic limestone, not as far, but still quite a distance. A simple hardness test will tell which it is. Agate will not scratch with a knife, calcite will.

It does not scratch with a knife, so chert I believe it is. Which must mean it came a ways, Thank you! 9 hours ago, Al Dente said: If these are oolites, I think they have been replaced by chert. Thank you again Edit: I found the answer after a quick search. 7 hours ago, abyssunder said: That's oolitic chert. similar ones here Thank you!
