Hugh Miller House

My birthday was on 31 May so I did what any other person would do on their birthday, I took a cruise on Loch Ness with a visit to Urquhart Castle and then drove to Cromarty to visit the Hugh Miller house and cottage. I got quite a bit of photos for you all to enjoy, including some specimens that Hugh collected himself.

For those that don’t know who he is, you can check out these sites for more detailed information.

That’s all for now! The sundial above was carved by Hugh for his uncles and now resides in the garden of his childhood home which he later lived in. Sadly I didn’t get any photos of his house on my phone, but I’m sure you could look it up if you were really interested. Thanks for looking!

Now wait a minute Candace!

Are you trying to tell me they actually get sunshine in Scotland?!!

It did nothing but pour rain the entire week I was there.

I guess that was Scotland’s way of telling you to go back home. :hearty-laugh:

It was actually very foggy in the morning and beautiful and clear in the afternoon and evening, except for our last two days that we spent in Glasgow, then it was either sunny or raining...and sometimes both at the same time.

The moment we drove across the border into Scotland it started and never let up until crossing the border back into England. A Celtic curse perhaps?

It’s very likely, especially if you weren’t wearing a kilt to keep the curse at bay.

That is incredible! Your past relative was lucky to be in the presence of a great mind. If you ever get a chance to go I would recommend it. I’m so glad I found out about it and was able to go.
