Hello all! Here's a few pics from my latest dive. I had no idea the "chunk of wierd looking bone " I picked up was a horse mandible fragment with the last molar still in it. Its a first for me! Enjoy!

I really like the jaw frag with the side of the tooth exposed.

Nice finds! I just started snorkeling and am in the process of getting my open water certification so I can dive more.

Very nice finds you have there!

I was wondering, if diving in a place maybe just 6 feet deep, and the water is almost

black with film, would you actually be able to see anything through a mask? At

the deepest part? There is a place in AR where I have found some of my favorite

fossils and while most of the creek is very shallow, one spot maybe 8 or 10 feet round

is very deep. I have the feeling some good fossils may be at the bottom. Maybe

it is possible to see things even if the water is very dirty? You that dive might have the same

conditions in places.

Roz- It sounds like you might need a light to see well. Even with the worse vis in the gulf I can see enough, but in tannin stained water I would bet it would be pretty dark. I would try it, with as much direct sun as possible, because you know thats probably where the good stuff is :D

last thing - maybe a phosphate nodule? dunno.

It definatly possibly maybe could be. Most of the black non bone stuff in florida seems to be phospate of some kind

Thanks!

Why John? It isn't flowing, just a large stagnant spot..but the rest of the creeks flows at times.
