I also agree with rock. It could be an ironstone concretion. That would explain the reddish hue from iron oxides.

Compare yours with picture below:

Maybe it's both a rock AND an egg... (Mother Nature may have laid one)..

Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.

Meh; rock, concretion, stone...  don't give it to a two year old.  It will go into the mouth.
