Scotts Valley Hunting

I went to SCotts Valley yesterday with a forum member from back east. The Sand Dollar location we went to is located high amounst the trees in the Santa Cruz mountains. It's a beautiful location but always feels strange to collect fossilized marine life from there.

Ahh, the Santa Margarita Sandstone - a friend of mine who was with me over spring break found a pretty nice lower canine from a primitive walrus there, in a quarry where you can just pick up 5" wide sand dollars (they weather out of the cliff and just sit on a ledge for the picking).

I should organize a trip there this winter to do some sharktooth digging...
