Rosemary
I am not always able to understand when I am looking at a sponge. Thx in advance.
thebluecatapilla
Well, definitely looks like something remotely spongy to me. The internal cavities and external pores definitely look like fossil sponges. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Rockwood
I can see poorly preserved stromatoporoids looking like this. It's hard to say it for sure without more clues though.
Pagurus
My first thought was bryozoan colony, but it's only a thought and I could be way off. Sharper images of the surface would help. It looks interesting. Thanks for posting it. On second thought, I am leaning toward a stromatoporoid. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in soon. Start the day with a smile and get it over with.
Rosemary
This is the underside of the second image (mound shape).
Rockwood
If they were mine, I would think of them as stromatoporoids. I have had trouble getting confirmation for some in my collection that are preserved to roughly the same degree though.
Rosemary
I never know what to say sponge or stromatoporoid. Thx for the feedback. It's always appreciated.
Rockwood
Just go with porifera and you'll have them both covered.
