New Members FossilDaddy Posted May 27, 2019 New Members Share Posted May 27, 2019 I’m a huge amateur, but I found what appears to be a cool fossil on the beach in Capitola, California, and Id love to learn what it is! I’d assume it’s mammalian but I don’t know much more than that. Trying to get into fossil hunting and it seems like there’s a lot of cool stuff around here, any help would be appreciated! caldigger
Likely cetacean bone in stone matrix. Very worn so you probably can't get much further on ID than that.
Carl
Yep. Most likely cetacean. The beach there is FULL of them! Pliocene Purisima Formation: 3-6 million years old.
