New Members G.. Posted November 14, 2019 New Members Posted November 14, 2019 I found 2 fossils that look to be part of a jaw. What did I find?
Tidgy's Dad Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Hello, and a very warm welcome to TFF from Morocco. Can't see any bone or tooth material, it looks like fibrous calcite on limestone with veins of calcite or quartz to me. 6 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
FranzBernhard Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Welcome to TFF from Austria! I don´t see a fossil, its a rock (limestone?) with various vein fillings (calcite or aragonite). But maybe your next specimen will be a real fossil! Keep trying! Franz Bernhard 4

jpc Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 one more vote for septarian nodule. Is this from far northeastern Neb?
Mark Kmiecik Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Not fossil, but I would be all over that specimen to get it into my collection of minerals. Very nice find. I'm not pro-septarian on this one. I lean towards travertine or tufa. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
New Members G.. Posted November 15, 2019 Author New Members Posted November 15, 2019 I see said the blind man. Looks Septarian to me. Thank you for your kind welcome, time, knowledge and pictures. Me and Gus (my standard Australian Shepard) get lost in time when we are digging around in our creek. Every time it rains its a new place, which I'm sure isn't lost on you all.
