PaleoPaulz
I would greatly appreciate any help in identifying this "fossil". This "fossil" was found on the ground in an area where limestone was being dump on the ground for a pad or road. Central Texas; probably Frio county. Thank you. Rockwood
It has enough of a fossil 'feel' to it that I suspect it may be the remnant of a mold fossil of some sort, but as it stands now I can't identify it as a fossil.

Ludwigia
It sure does have an interesting shape, but my guess is a weather and water-worn stone. 2 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

erose
Picked up many things like this here in Central Texas. All have been just oddly weathered limestone. They can look a lot like bones but were most likely just burrow infill material that weathered free because it was slightly harder than the surrounding matrix. So at best it could have started as a burrow or trace fossil. The same effect in reverse is why we have so much limestone riddled with holes.

abyssunder
I'm just wondering if can't be a remnant of a caprinuloid like rudist? http://digimorph.org/specimens/Caprinuloidea_perfecta/ 2 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. LabRatKing
Looks like a nice bit of concretion to me. I see no reason to believe otherwise. However it may be an ichnofossil such as a burrow...but without details of the source even that is a reach.

fifbrindacier
Looks like a concretion to me too. "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." PaleoPaulz
Thank you for all of your insights. I am leaning towards a concretion.
