Hi folks,new member here.

I was recently cleaning debris from the ditch beside my driveway after a gullywasher and found this basicly laying on top of the ground.

After some googling it looks like I might have a stigmaria. Would like confirmation.

I live in Stark County in eastern Ohio.

Welcome to the Forum! This piece looks more like worn lycopod bark than Stigmaria, which are lycopod roots. There appears to be a faded diamond pattern, but I am not too sure. I would maybe consider Lepidodendron.

I respectfully disagree.

This looks like a classic example of Stigmaria sp. to me.

Fair enough. The pattern is worn, so it is hard to make out exactly what it is. I may be seeing things that don't exist.

For me, these don't appear to be regular enough to be Lepidodendron, but may be I am wrong.
