Taleo
Hi, I wonder if someone could please ID this Ammonite for me? I found it on the west side of Hornby Island, B.C., on Vancouver Island at Manning Pt., near a spot the locals call the "shark-tooth shale". It is about 2 inches in diameter (50mm) and Late Cretaceous in age (possibly Lambert Formation?). Thanks, Greg
vertman
I am not familiar with ammonite species from that area but that is a very cool find. Congratulations!
Wrangellian
Interesting... Have not seen that one before.. it looks fairly smooth though not completely so. Hope Don or one of the other Hornby collectors will chime in, I'm curious. I hope you kept the counterpart as it looks like it should contain a fair amount of the shell..? Thank-you Vertman and yes Wrangellian, I did keep the counterpart. Unfortunately much of the beautiful nacre layer crumbled.
