Dpaul7
Here is a polished Ammonite from Timor. Ceratite type? (I think it is but I am still a newbie at these) Can someone help with an ID? I have a couple more, will wait for a later time to post.

doushantuo
Why? (NOT meant in a bad way, Dave, but I think you know that. )
Ludwigia
I think you'll just have to leave that one at Ceratite non det. There's no precise stratigraphical information, practically all of the structural indicators on the shell have been sanded and polished away and the inner whorls can't be observed. andreas
Permian ammonoid for sure. Triassic ones do show a different matrix. Though strong sanded and polished I would lean towards Paralegoceras sp. But I would label it with cf. Paralegoceras sp. There are a bunch of similar ammonoids in Metalegoceratidae

(NOT meant in a bad way, Dave, but I think you know that. ) I had compared the suture lines to two others that were identified that way, that also came from Timor. (I thought that was a way to do it!!! ) Ludwiga - I do see your point! While it is a PRETTY piece, much is lost in the polishing process. Andreas... An elegant solution. Dpaul7
Again, the central detail is polished away... Suture pattern can be seen, however.
