Field Museum’s new exhibits

Recently went in a trip to the Field Museum in Chicago where they had two new exhibits showcased: Antarctica dinosaurs and their new dinosaur, Patagotitan.

Here are some pictures of the insanely massive sauropod nicknamed Maximo. This skeleton is just a replica, however they do have a few authentic bones on display:

In the pictures you may also notice a life-size Quetzolacanthus hovering in the corner.

Here are the authentic bones, it is hard to tell from a picture with no scale but the largest bone (bottom left) would probably be about 8 feet long. Absolutely massive creature!

The Field also had a special exhibit regarding the excavation of Antarctica fossils. There were all sorts of fossils such as sea floor, trilos, ammonites, and Permian creatures. However, the only ones I managed to take pictures of were of the dinosaurs.

The highlight of the exhibit is the Cryolophosaurus skeleton. Surrounding the skeleton are the authentic fossils which are encased in boxes that have 0% humidity to protect them from erosion and preserve them.

Pictured above are four isolated theropod teeth. As most of you know, it is very difficult to ID isolated teeth. However, they are believed to be

from a juvenile Cryolophosaurus.

Here is a jaw/skull material of a Sauropod from Antarctica. Completely forgot the name unfortunately.

Here is a skeleton of the mosasaur Taniwhasaurus from Antarctica as well.

I found this exhibit interesting and worthwhile and would highly recommend people in the area to stop by and take a look :)

P.S. and for you Sue fans, don’t worry she’s getting a new room all to herself upstairs

I just want to know what this thing is!!!

Located against the wall of a dinosaur exhibit. It's driving me nuts.

I'd love to visit the museum and see "A Room With a Sue." What a classic.

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.
