Unknown plate fossils found in the cooper river Charleston sc 

 

top is three inches long 

bottom is two inches

I thought so too, but file teeth are staggered. These are lined up which would dig furrows.

I've never seen this kind of patterns before, but the biological encrustations on their surface are telling they came from saltwater.

Does a magnet stick to them?  That would indicate they are made of iron.
