If you are in the Louisville, Kentucky area on September 19 or 20, 2009 and are interested in fossils, visit the Falls Fossil Festival at the Falls of the Ohio State Park in Clarksville, Indiana. The park is right across the Ohio River from downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
The 386 million year old fossil beds are among the largest, naturally exposed ones in the world. The park covers 220 acres when the river is at its lowest levels.
This festival is the 15th held so far and will feature a number of speakers talking about fossils, nature, and geology, representatives of three fossil societies helping with fossil identification, hikes of the park, children's educational activities, exhibit of "Green Planet: The History of Plants", and much more.
