The following are images of Pennsylvanian seed fern fossils in my collection. Members of the Fossil Forum have generously provided comments, insights and corrections to many of these images; comments/suggestions/corrections from readers are welcome! It should be noted species names followed by a question mark indicate that these names are likely but not definitive. Fossil Amber and Copal: Worldwide Localities
Mostly macro photographs taken with the use of a simple Samsung WB35F.
The rarest of my currently-depicted specimens, is that of a 4.3g piece of blue Sumatra amber; it contains 2 Pseuomyrmex sp. ants, as well as two smaller, unidentified winged individuals.

Titringo Creek Siltstone leaves
A series of leaf fossils from the Eocene Titringo Creek Siltstone. Specimens from this locality are "mummified", meaning the siltstone can be broken down leaving the cuticle free of the matrix. Will update with more photos as I process more matrix!
See HERE for more detailed information on the locality.

Plants of the Lewellyn Formation
The Carboniferous Lewellyn Formation runs through northern and central Pennsylvania and is the source of much of the coal in "Coal County." Along with the fossil fuel are much better preserved examples of ferns, horsetails, and confer relatives, as well as some rare insects. In addition to anthracite coal, it is composed of sandstone, siltstone and mudstone.
