Max-fossils

An incomplete bittersweet clam specimen. Because the hinge is missing, it becomes very hard to determine which species it is, which also makes it difficult to determine the age of the specimen, as both Pliocene and Eemian (which contain different species) sediments occur on the Banjaard. Chances are higher that it's an Eemian species, simply because Eemian sediments are more common, but no definite conclusion can be drawn.

Status: locally extinct

Fossil occurrence: uncommon
