Family Turbinellidae
Hystrivasum locklini (Olsson & Harbinson, 1953)
Stratigraphy: Pinecrest Sand Member of the Tamiami Formation
Location: SMR Phase 7, Sarasota County, Florida USA.
Status: Extinct
Notes: Less constricted at the base than H. horridum with more subdued ornamentation. This is the common vase shell from the Sarasota shell pits. The genus is overly split and many of the numerous named species from the Tamiami might be variant of this .
