Petrified dinosaur head

Science abides by rigorous processes to confirm or falsify hypotheses using evidence and testing. They don't just guess something and leave it at that. Unless you can replicate said processes in field and lab work, the jury still rules in favour of what science says until -- with further testing and evidence -- theories are revised. And it isn't just one person's guess, either, but several hundreds of paleontologists and geologists working in both field and lab to further existing knowledge.

Indeed, Nevada has fascinating geology. Even economically, in considering the Clayton Valley area, there are lithium-rich clays; northeast are a series of calderas overlain by tuffaceous material from the Miocene. The USGS has done extensive mapping of the state, going back to the 1800s with a search for gold, and later copper. As others have said, you would be hard-pressed geologically to find dinosaur fossils.

Of course, to be fair one could mention the dinosaur tracks in the Mesozoic sandstone at Red Rock Canyon or the dinosaur bones discovered at the Valley of Fire, but these deposits are few and far between compared to the vast outstretches of older or younger deposits in the area.

As there is nothing more to learn from this suggestively shaped rock, the topic will now be locked.

Anyone with a different opinion is encouraged to have their items looked at by a paleontologist at a local university, or natural history museum.

TOPIC LOCKED.
