Need Help Identifying a Specimen

We found this specimen (there was another one next to it with slightly smaller diameter) at Bolinas, California.  Too many kids playing nearby and one of them took the other specimen and it was tough to collect with care.   Going back to dig for more and asking for the second specimen, once we do I will share a more complete photo.   For now, can anyone shed some light please.

Looks like a portion of an infilled burrow.
