Made a trip to the beach with my wife this morning, spent a couple hours, and for my first time at the beach I didn’t do too badly all things considered. Nothing major, but some gorgeous Colors on the teeth!

Also found a Gar fish scale, a fish vert, a sawfish rostrum/tooth:

A decently small sized piece of tusk:

A couple mammoth enamel bits and a few very worn horse teeth frags:

A whole bunch of sting Ray barbs:

And a whooooooooole bunch of parrot/burr fish mouth plates:

Not a bad haul. Next time I go I’ll be bringing a snorkel mask and try to find a good spot.

Great finds! I love Venice Beach! I have had the opportunity to go there twice with a friend- I hope to go back someday!

It was great till the waves got high around noon and every wave was throwing me face first into rocks, but anywaaaaaaay. I did really enjoy it, nice change of scenery, and being able to relax on the beach was nice!

My favorite things about fossil hunting: getting out of my own head, getting into nature and, if I’m lucky, finding some cool souvenirs.

Not bad results. I've only ever found very tumbled and rounded fossils in the shell hash at low tide. I've done better snorkeling offshore a bit. Any of the public beaches in the Venice area will produce the same kind of finds offshore.

Cheers.
