Opabinia Blues
No bone texture, no symmetry, no specific identifiable anatomy. This is a piece of sedimentary rock eroded into a suggestive shape. It's no more a fossil Ankylosaur than a cloud that looks like an Ankylosaur is a fossil Ankylosaur. Great job posting with a locality (and scale, eventually). though. 1 1 1 “The worse the country, the more tortured it is by water and wind, the more broken and carved, the more it attracts fossil hunters, who depend on the planet to open itself to us. Opabinia Blues
For future reference, fossils (even cast/mold replacements, though bones typically three-dimensionally as permineralizations, not as cast/mold replacements) will be distinct in lithology from the surrounding rock. The part of the rock that looks like an Ankylosaur head is identical in lithology to the matrix. Tidgy's Dad
I would keep it as an excellent example of pareidolia. 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
