Quick morning trip to Douglas Point

Got out early to Douglas Point on the Potomac river, unfortunately the water was high, rough, and dark. Didn’t find much but I managed the biggest and most complete ray plate I’ve ever found and a decent croc tooth with some great umber color to it!

That would have been a good trip in my book. Those ray plates are nicer than anything I have ever found.

Oh it was a good trip, the conditions were just aggravating because I felt like I was missing so much

Around 5 years ago I stopped by Douglas Point as I was driving from Georgia to Ontario.  It had been raining an extraordinary amount and there was a lot of serious flooding in the area.  I timed my arrival to just before low tide.  To my surprise all that water coming down the Potomac meant the entire beach was completely under brown sediment-filled water.  It was impossible to collect anything.  Now that was aggravating conditions!  Just as hazard of having a single shot at collecting I guess.
