Dear all,

I have recently encountered a very good deal on the tooth attached below. However, the deal is too good so I wonder, is it a fake or is there a chance for it to be real.

Deal is around (price removed)  for a 10.5 cm tooth

Thank you for your help

Best

We cannot discuss price/value on the forum, so we can only comment on the tooth itself.  It looks real to me as well, but the root is quite worn.

Thank you both for the reply.

Apologies if the price reference broke some etiquette rule

It's real. Kinda rough shape with root wear, but has some nice "lightning" shapes on the blade.

Cheers,
Brett

When I bought my first Meg I shopped around a lot and learnt a lot about what affects tooth price.

A lot of things affect the price of a tooth; size and completeness being major factors. How massive and impressive is it and how pristine is it?

As others have pointed out the root is almost gone. This is common at some sites where the roots are poorly mineralised and more easily eroded than the crown.

The bourlette is a little damaged, but mostly there and the tip

is a bit dinged. Still a nice tooth.

Shop around and get an idea of the price vs quality and size. Then you are in a position to know how much the tooth should be worth and how much you are willing to pay for it.

Where is this from?  If Indonesia good chance that the root is partially or completely fake.  Very typical of Megs from this region.
