I found this neat shell today. Not sure what it is.  Palmetto Florida

  It was in a  pile of fill dirt delivered .  I'm sure it's fossilized.

I believe it a member of the genus Calyptraea. Common name of these are “cup and saucer shells”.

They're related to limpets and slipper shells.

Here is a similar specimen Calyptraea costata, Pleistocene , De soto County Florida

I love these shells. I have a few from manatee county too…..crucibulum multilineatum?
