Jimmy From Holland
hi i'm jimmy from the netherlands. And new to the forum wow there are 45k pictures posted here and hundreds of topics about anything and everything about petrified life. it's so much info itself a bit difficult to navigate here. Beautiful finds from around the world. Many from amirica but I wouldn't go there to look for fossils. (I don't get a visa). myself i became interested in finding fossils in the south of england in 1986. I have often returned to look for them. no i didn't find any complete dinos. The snout of a mixosaurus in piryite, 30cm amonite, fish and the jaw of an ichthyostega are my top pieces. walking on the beach or in a quarry and then preparing the fossils is meditation for me. Flake for flake in anticipation of what is to come. The emotion when something unexpectedly beautiful appears. The sadness when something breaks. it's like reading a thrilling book about the past. I came across this forum in a search for a new search area. My eye has fallen on Solnhofen Germany. I also have a number of fossils that I can't identify which I will post on the forum. Sincerely, Jimmy

Joseph Fossil
@Jimmy From Holland Very beautifully said Jimmy! For myself, finding fossils is a combination of a thrill ride and relaxation. It's thrilling as you scan the vast sea of rocks in an area looking for certain fossils. It's also relaxing and awe inspiring as you feel full concentrated on the task of finding fossils and when you do, you have the honor of finding the remains of organisms that lived more often than not Millions of Years ago. It's a rush of glory that you find a fossil! It's even more so a sense of honor that, perhaps, that long dead creature let you find it, to help reveal to the world at least a fraction of its story. The story of what it is, how it died, and how it lived. The story of the world and ecosystems it lived in. In return, you bring the fossil of that organism to the surface once more!! Also, I would like to Welcome to the Fourm Jimmy!!! Sorry for the Typo: Also, I would like to welcome you to the fourm Jimmy!!!
