Woogie
My job has taken me to a small town in Gloucestershire, I have noticed all the old buildings in the surrounding area are made from fossil packed sandstone! Hard for me to comprehend the amount of fossils in all these building, would love to find out where the quarry is (or was).
Ludwigia
So please tell us first what you've seen in these stones. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Fossildude19
I see cross sections of shells and maybe some forams. Tidgy's Dad
Probably a Middle Jurassic sandstone or sandy limestone, there were thousands of little local quarries where local stone was quarried for building. Check a map of the village, I bet there's a disused quarry right next to it. 2 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
TqB
There are occasional belemnites (my speciality). Serpulid worm tubes and terebratulids and/or bivalves. I suspect the latter are the foraminiferan suspects that Tim mentioned - I don't think there are large forams like that in the UK Jurassic. 3 2 1 Tarquin
grandpa
A fossil museum in the outer walls of the area buildings. What a unique concept!
