Can you give us some background of where you found them? Could they be skeletal crystals?

Here is a good site, although I realize that choosing English changes only the headings, not the content.

But online translation from German to English is easy nowadays, so :

Skeletal crystals form from a supersaturated solution which deposits ions more rapidly on corners and edges than it does on flat surfaces, giving the crystal an "outlined" appearance.
