Whale ear bone, ammonite, or just my imagination?

Found while digging for sharks teeth on the beach at Edisto. It’s a little over an inch in length.

Please please please.... reshoot the pix in focus.  Looks to me like you found a wicker basket.

It is not an Ammonite... SC is famous for whale fossils.   I think that there is enough here to say that you found a tympanic Bulla (earbone) of a whale.

I do not know if there is enough there to tell which whale...

You could do this google search and see a lot of whale earbones that likely are less worn
