sharko69
This is a find from a few months ago but just received it back from being prepped. I have been hunting the beaches around the Galveston area for years and have accumulated quite a few crabs but this one is by far and away the most complete example I have seen of a Libinia from the Beaumont formation. It was still in a clump of matrix when I found it and was hoping it would have a few leggies. Was super excited to see it did have a few. Thought I would share. GPayton
That's incredible! I didn't even know that crabs could be found in the Beaumont Formation, having only ever found mammal and reptile material myself plus one or two shark teeth. You should definitely post this in Fossil of the Month if the prep work was recent!

FossilDAWG
That's an amazing crab! Regarding FOTM, remember that you have to post before and after photos, and the majority of the prep must have been done this month. Don

Callenectes is by far the most common fossil find but at least 7 species can be found but Libinia are somewhat rare. Complete specimens are really rare. Prep was just finished and I picked it up right before I posted. I will post it in Fossil of Month and see what happens. Thanks again. Would love to see your mammal and reptile finds from Galveston. I have found several pieces myself over my years of combing.
