Rock identification ky

Found in ky where coal has been mined Help Identifying this rock I have several like it with the 2 colors , wondering if anyone knows what it is  and can tell me what the shiny diamond looking part could be or can  any fossils

Looks like coal to me. :unsure:

The grey could be claystone or siltstone or marlstone or something similar.

The black could the coal / anthracite. Can you scratch both with a needle or a nail? How does the powder look like?

Now I can see the clear areas. Not coal then, of course! Something quartz-based. Don´t know exactly what.

(Flint, chert or a quartz vein?)
