This is normally not the type of thing I'd consider as it's not up the same alley of things I normally collect (dinosaur) but I came across it on a not so known site so I'm curious if it's real as I just don't have an eye for these.  Color is relatively uniform which is throwing me off quite a bit as normally these are painted from what I've seen here.

  • Fossildude19 changed the title to Keichousaurus

Nice one. Looks natural and not enhanced with color. A good preparation would reveal much more details on the head and all digits..

I also can't see any relevant cracks in the matrix

Very nice. It appears to be the less common (I am led to believe) dorsal presentation. I would be pleased to own it, as is; but light air abrasion may "improve" the piece.

dorsal presentation

Dorsal as in looking down with back on top?

EDIT: I think I see what you mean in the ribs and how they fall compared to others. Good observation. I always just assumed it was always the same.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

Yes. Notice the lack of Pelvis or breast bones showing.

Genuine specimen, still covered by a thin layer of matrix.  The part of skull and upper neck seem to be prepped with acid and some bones are eroded.  The rest of the body is not prepped.
