Hi, Everyone.  We found some more odd fossils yesterday and I decided to put a few out for identification.  I added a shot of all of them together next to a centimeter ruler for size and comparison, the rest are individual items.

One looks an awful lot like a pecan, but turned out to be a brown, striated stone.

As always, I’m here to learn.  Thanks.

It looks to me to be a coincidentally-shaped piece of fossilized bone, but I would really like to hear your opinions.

And finally; does this look like anything besides a weird rock?

The hook shaped bone could be a water worn fossil crab claw of some type and I’m not sure about the shark tooth but it could be a Carcharocles Angustidens. But still researching online, just trying to be helpful

If you found them yesterday the title should read 2024, not 2023 :ighappy:

Weathered section of a porcupinefish palatine.  There was a recent thread in Fossil ID with photos of the fish and a complete piece

Has a hyperostosed fish bone appearance

For us lay people, is that a recent fish bone with encrustations?

Thanks.

Excessive growth...more "swollen" than a normal bone

My favorite things about fossil hunting: getting out of my own head, getting into nature and, if I’m lucky, finding some cool souvenirs.
