Magnification and photos for sharing online

Hi, I have only used my iPhone for fossils so far.  I love the instant gratification of shoot, edit, post.  But I need a bit more magnification and certainly better resolution.  I would like to have nice magnification to look for small fossils, say Ostracods and conodonts, so if i can solve both issues with one tool, that would be great.  Just say I want good resolution down to 1 mm or so. at least.  Here is my immediate issue.  I want clear resolution of the small parts of this 1 cm fossil.  What do you suggest?  I'm not made of money, but will get what I need.

There are a number of USB digital microscopes which vary in cost from cheap to dear.

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.

it is always a limit with the cameras from the mobilphones. I use an Iphone 12 making good images, but when I compare them with pics I take with one of my lower budget cameras these are often a little bit better. And, when I compare them with a pic taken with one of my really better ones, worlds...

Optic in the mobilphones is always limited.

e.g. Never tried the magnifier, thanks @Fossildude19, check my appstore later to try :Smiling:

As @Kane said I have a usb microscope, you can find them online for different prices depending on quality. Mine costs 45e. This is an example of a suchomimus tooth were the serrations are difficult to see without magnification.

In this one, each white line is a millimeter:

Wow, those shots are amazing! I'm struggling with similar issues with my iPhone, even shooting with a standing lighted hand lens. I just can't get close enough before the phone loses its focus on the small details. Would you mind me asking which USB microscope you're using? If I can get even close to your photos, I'll be very pleased with it!

Hi, I sent you a PM with the link as I am not sure per forum rules I can post a direct link to the product in public forums.

I use a macro lens that attaches to my phone. Cost me about $30 on Amazon.

Some examples. Items sizes range from 10mm-15mm.

@Masonk

The quality of your photos with the clip on lens is fantastic.

I must look into getting one of these.

I have a cheap end USB microscope.

I don't use it as often as I should. It needs to be plugged into my laptop, and then need to sort out the lighting etc.

Seems a lot of effort when I just want one or two quick photos

I am able to take photos like this using my iPhone.

I shoot through the lens of a microscope. It takes time and practice, but there are ways to do it.
