Shellseeker
Was out hunting yesterday, previous post https://www.thefossilforum.com/topic/139901-interesting-finds-peace-river-02282024/ I did not have time last night to go thru everything , and I found 2 Carpals, one known and other needs identification... The known is a camelid (Palaeolama or Hemiauchenia) Carpal , specifically a Scaphoid.. I know because I have found this carpal previously. In the very next sieve , another carpal, but this one I did not recognize. To some extant, it resembles an Equus Magnum, but definitely is not.... It is very high quality, much better than the Scaphoid, but I have checked with camelid Magnum and it seems very different... So with that, here is a Carpal from the Peace River for Identification. This is usually a sweet spot for @Harry Pristis 4 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
Balance
I’ve been hunting in between kid drop offs. It looks like an intermediate carpal or lunar carpal. To what? Haven’t figured that out yet. No to Equus. Aside from larger differences the ridge in the side with the split articulation surface runs perpendicular to yours. “Similar to magnum” would track since this sits on top of most… See if it fits next to that scaphoid and you’ll know if it’s camelid or not. 😂 Jp Edited February 29 by Balance

I found my first camelid Intermediate almost exactly 2 years ago. https://www.thefossilforum.com/topic/121276-tarsal-carpal/#comment-1328243 Hulbert's evaluation I have both in hand... this new one is not an Intermediate/Lunar of a Camelid. 2 hours ago, Balance said: To what? Yes, I am staring at that ridge in the large articulation surface when examining possible Camelid Magnums like this one. It does not seem to have a ridge 1 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
