An Amazing Agnostoid Arthropod

Recommended Posts

An amazing agnostoid arthropod was recently named in my honor. The Great Cambrian-Ordovician trilobitologist: John Taylor has bestowed Lotagnostus morrisoni upon yours truly. Although the Agnostida have long been classified among the orders of trilobites, because of a number of key differences, they are currently excluded and regarded as a closely related sister group to the polymeroid trilobites. In any event, the Agnostida will always be inextricably associated and studied in conjunction with the Trilobita. I'm very grateful to have the privilege to share this 'Lucky' Lotagnostus here at TFF! happy0144.gif

For this you also need good eyes, a lot of patience and have to recognize the right thing :Smiling:

This is quite an exceptional honour, and indeed your hard work and keen knowledge of the existing literature is in a class of its own. Perhaps given this honour, they ought to separate this one specifically into its own classification as a Gnostid, given that it was much of your hard work that made this one known (well, as known as these taxon-defying arthropods can be known!).

please note that I fully realize this in no way equates to the latest honor bestowed uppn you, but my appreciation of trilobite paleontology has increased tenfold

since experiencing your expertise on the subject, which can only be described as  " spectacularly encyclopedic "

Congratulations, good sir...that's pretty darn exciting. We all know you as the most knowledgeable trilobite kid on the block...very cool to see the world of Paleontology recognize you for it as well. Nice work.

Congratulation!  I love the reasoning behind the honor as it corroborates what I have always been amazed at: your ability to find and share the appropriate literature for anything trilobite related (and often many other taxa).  I know it has taken a lot of work and persistence to get to that point.  Thanks and congratulations, again!!

Congrats! What an honor! This has made your contribution perpetual - at  least until our human inquiry for fossil knowledge comes to an end. That would be a sad day indeed!
