M3gal0don_M4n
Hello all! Here I am with yet another question the same as all the other ones I ask. “What is this fossil tooth?” I found it online. I believe it to be a theropod, but can anyone officially identify it? It was found in Hell Creek, if that helps. If I can find out in the next 3 days that would be great, as that is when it is going. 1 Signature goes here.

JoeS
Hi, do you have a County where the tooth was found in, to support the Hell Creek Fm.? What is the size of the tooth? For now it looks like an indet. Tyrannosaurid to me. 2
Fossildude19
Size and county would be helpful. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Brevicollis
I found that tooth on the internet too. The description says, its a T-rex tooth or Tyrannosauridae indet. The description also says, it was found in the Hell Creek formation, Carter County. Its 0.74 inch in legth. I would post a Screenshot of the description, if thats OK for you @M3gal0don_M4n or allowed on this forum. Hope this helps. Am i even allowed to post Screenshots of descriptions on this Forum ? @Fossildude19 Edited March 18 by Brevicolis 2 Are good signatures really that important ? Let's keep the talk about the Fossils themselves, and NOT the sellers, outlets or prices. 2 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." JoeS
Carter County, sounds like Hell Creek Fm. then. Looks like a Nanotyrannus tooth, with the compression, slender tip and rectangular cross section.
M3gal0don_M4n
Thanks! I also thinking it could potentially be a juvenile Tyrannosaurus Rex tooth. Would that potentially be plausible theory. JoeS
For the aforementioned criteria it looks like a Nanotyrannus tooth to me, not a T-Rex. Others might have a different take on it. In general, you should phrase your headline more direct, e.g. 'Is this a T-Rex tooth?', rather than a generic one. This will attract the more specialized people in the forum, better for your ID
M3gal0don_M4n
Thanks for the tip. I was new around here and the thought did occur to me, I just didn’t want to sound like the hopeful newbie jumping to conclusions just yet. But I will from now on. Good advice. Signature goes here.
