New member and first post! I Found this in a pit being dug for a retention pond in West, central Florida. Anyone know what it is?

My favorite things about fossil hunting: getting out of my own head, getting into nature and, if I’m lucky, finding some cool souvenirs.

Awesome, Thank you @Fin Lover . I had a hunch. Any idea what kind? Or know of any resources that could point me in the right direction?

I don't know Florida, so @Shellseeker may be able to ID it for you.

I agree with @Fin Lover.  It is a whale tooth... There are only 2 types of large whale teeth commonly found in the State of Florida...

This is Kogiopsis... pgymy sperm whale

and this is Scaldicetus.

Yours has a hump,  so you have found Scaldicetus.   Typing that name in a google search will get you tons of information, research papers ,  and offers to buy another one..

Absolutely whale. Worn, broken but still a great find!
