Canhowlet
Found this tooth coming out of a cliff in Half Moon Bay, about 2 inches in length and 1 1/2 inch wide. For its size, pretty heavy. U shaped indentations on one end.
Mahnmut
Hi and welcome to the forum! This looks organic on first view, but you mentioning its weight/density makes me wonder if it is some heavily corroded piece of something manmade, the undulating shape visible at the broken end looks somewhat rusty. I cannot rule out a fossil so far, others more familiar with your region will know more. is it magnetic? if so, its very likely its manmade. Darktooth
To me it looks like possibly a fragment of Mammoth tooth. 1 I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
Canhowlet
I thought so as well, because I’ve seen similar herbivore teeth and it has a very similar look. But thought it was too small to be a mammoth, so I was thinking it could be some other smaller Pleistocene mammal

Carl
I can see the resemblance to a mammal tooth but feel that a rusted piece of iron is much more likely in this case.
