RI beachfront find (Fogland Beach)

While walking the beach my wife found this oddly shaped rock.  She was looking for “ heart shaped” rocks but after looking at it a bit it seemed like it has a margin where the tooth enamel might have been. That tooth face also has what seems like microscopic tubulas which might have once been the dentin.  It’s certainly not pristine as it does have a defined point.  It’s about 3-3.5 inches at the longest points.

It could just be a rock but I was curious your opinion

Definitely not a tooth.  I might be seeing bone texture in a few areas, but I'm not sure.  See what others say about rock vs. bone.

My favorite things about fossil hunting: getting out of my own head, getting into nature and, if I’m lucky, finding some cool souvenirs.

I wouldn't be so fast to rule out tooth. I see bone texture, but I'm not so sure there isn't dentin texture beside it, and the rest of the texture sure looks like the texture of a root.

Hi,

I think thats a piece of metamorphic rock with a nice resemblance to a worn shark tooth.
