Texas Fossil Hound
A few guys from the Forum got together and hit the North Sulphur River after the big flash flood. The water level in the river went from 12" to 24+ feet of raging rapids. It caused a bit of a stir in the clay bottom to say the least. See the before an after pics shot at about the same location in the river 7 days apart. Before After We found a couple cool things, but most of the treasures appear to be buried below the millions of clay blobs churned up by th river. Here is a pic of CreekCrawler with a really NICE Hoplopterx fish section- complete with scales and fin sections. THis is the segment in situ Here is one of the two arrow heads found. But the coolest item of my day was the following item... "Silence is Golden, but duct tape is Silver."
Texas Fossil Hound
This is a Mosasoaur tooth of some serious size - 52mm tall and 29mm across at thewidest part of the base. This is the biggest one I have found to date. It is in remarkably good shape for having been tumblled for so long. in Situ. "Silence is Golden, but duct tape is Silver." CreekCrawler
Had fun Jon !!! Love those shots of the river "before and after" We should have stayed with y'all. My dinner plans actually fell through after a phone call on the trip home. Could have hunted longer, but didn't know it until we were already half way home. That mosasaur tooth is a brute........ Taxman56
WOW big change. Too bad we don't have a 24 ft flood stage picture. By the looks of what you guys found theres some serious treasure out there.
Texas Fossil Hound
The day was remarkably slow regarding finding fossils. Usually, I would find more in an all day hunt. But the fossils were few and far between. However, the quality of a couple of them from the group made up for the lack of quantity. Also, it was pretty cool to get to meet some other Fossil Forum members! "Silence is Golden, but duct tape is Silver."
