Missourian
Is it possible that the tooth you have labeled as Edestus is actually a Peripristis? The conules on that specimen look similar to your Peripristis teeth. I thought it might be a Peripristis, but with the way the points (conules) seem to slightly overlap, I thought it might be something else. Edestus seemed to be a possibility. I should have put "Peripristis, or Edestus?" Context is critical.

I am certainly keeping my eyes open now that I know! Oh and I think you mean he would tell you, "Ready yet, you are not, yet impatient, you are." May the saurus be with you! One caveat: I get to call you Yoda and you must tell me how I am not ready yet and too impatient. Unfortunately, shark teeth around here tend to be few and far between. The only trick I can think of is to search on the surfaces of limestones (eg. the top of the Raytown), especially when they've been excavated and left aside or in a pile (A jumble of Paola Limestone slabs left at a construction site near Bannister Mall was nice while they lasted). Otherwise, it's just a matter of spending a lot of time looking. A few of us have already met on a fossil outing. We should do it again. Context is critical.
