What Books Would The Fossil Forum Consider As "must Reads" For Amateur Fossil Collector?

The earlier 2 volume set from 1910 is a different edition entirely; "North American Index Fossils" was subsequently replaced by "Index Fossils of North America".

I know, that wasn't the question. Maybe I should have phrased it differently: Is the 1943 book the first printing or edition of IFNA?

The preface may have been written in 1943 but the first edition was printed in 1944.

So, seeing no "2nd printing" or "2nd edition" etc mine is likely a first edition? or maybe that page is missing?
