bluepickup
Woke up Sunday and couldn't decide whether to go east or west for the afternoon. Finally decided to go west so I could take the dogs. It's easier to have them in the desert rather than the mountains. They just love going fossil hunting. The red dog is only 18 months. He's kinda new at it. He spent a lot of time chasing grasshoppers. I didn't find much really, one of those days. Most everything was just shallow, flaky impressions. I did find a nice shark tooth about midday, quite pretty and a thrill to find, but I don't really collect them. Here are a few pictures of the day. Maybe I should of gone east, but you never know. Good luck on your trips.
Auspex
Looks really beautiful there; I'd have settled for watching a young dog chase grasshoppers "There has been an alarming increase in the number of things I know nothing about." - Ashleigh Ellwood Brilliant “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” - Thomas Henry Huxley >Paleontology is an evolving science. >May your wonders never cease! Jeffrey P
I appreciate your laid back attitude. We don't all get to walk in the desert. Thanks for sharing.
Shellseeker
I cherish the days when I can go east or west, upstream or downstream, where ever the fossil gods lead me. PFOOLEY
Hey BP. Great photos! It has been a while since I have been able to get out so it was nice to "be there" from my desktop. bluepickup
Thanks for all the comments. I enjoy making a photographic record of my 'adventures' to look at later. PFOOLEY, I'm thinking I better pack an extra sandwich or two in case I run into you out there Shellseeker, I've never thought about looking in rivers around here. I don't know if any are fossiliferous. Our main river, the Rio Grande runs over Quaternary fill, mostly sand and volcanic ash, very deep and not really fossiliferous. PFOOLEY
PFOOLEY, I'm thinking I better pack an extra sandwich or two in case I run into you out there ...If not, I always carry extra granola bars. I'd hate to not make it to that "next hill" due to hunger. Best of luck in your future trips, I'm sure there are many discoveries to be made out there.
