The 'Great Dying', was a mass-extinction event that wiped out some 90% of all species on Earth about 252 million years ago.

Recently, some scientists announced that we are about to lose about half of all species on Earth very soon, due to the global warming trend. It will happen even if we cut the CO2 emissions drastically. Alas, I don't see it happening any time soon.
