Plantguy
Hey Chris, congrats. Stinking nice find! I can actually say when asked that I was standing less than 10 feet away from it when it was still buried and unknown and unseen and the fossil collector was floating in 65 degree water and posing on his back for pre-find pictures with his feet in a screen sifter! Dang you lucky dog! Thanks for letting me hold the darn thing! Regards, Chris

Search4
Yes Sir! How awesome it was finding this prehistoric hunk of fossilisciousness! I just weighed it out on an inaccurate bath scale @ 2.6lbs (1.1778kg). As solid and weighty as many smaller molars tend to be, this one is no exception and luckily escaped the typical fragility we ordinarily find in fossils this size from around here. Thank you all so much for your support and, or friendly opposition . On many weekends, Jcbshark and I have allowed our imaginations run wild with thoughts of smilodon and ground-sloth infused creeks and construction sites, only to come home empty handed, a couple pounds lighter with a few new scrapes, cuts and burns. Meeting up for a group hunt was a nice break from the mental and physical pressure of trying to find that one good trip maker to make it worth all the effort. Of all the places we've had to hike, climb, bicycle, paddle, swim, and matchete our way in to, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine finding my best fossil, and only Mastodon while on the group outing in a hunted out creek, let alone winning VFOTM! Stay tuned
