The Winner of the April 2016 Vertebrate Find Of The Month is the Cetacean tooth from the Middle Miocene Round Mountain Silt of California, U.S.A.! In a battle of giants, this tooth edged out its mammoth competition. Congratulations to Tony (ynot) on a whale of a find and his first win in the contest! :yay-smiley-1:

Well done! That was a close contest! It was the prep/position of this one that won me over.

Thank You! It was quite a "roller coaster" ride to this result and I was sure You were going to win. It is a nice surprise that I actually won this.

Thanks Coco!

Wow! That was close! Way to go Tony, but that mammoth was also just as fantastic as your whale.

Thanks Roger. I had a hard time not voting for the mammoth tooth, almost. :P

Congratulations Tony !

Thank You.

As close as a VFOTM has been in a while. Congrats to Jeff for a huge mammoth tooth that will be HIS FOTM for some time. Congrats to Tony on a cool whale tooth (not pathological it seems but oddly beautiful nonetheless). Hope to make it back out to Shark Tooth Hill soon so you can show me where all the nice whale teeth are hidden. ;)

Cheers.
