Hi all

We were out on another outing this week in the badlands in the Red Deer River Valley in Alberta.

While scrambling up a drainage I found this. I was hoping for a little help with ID.

there are 3 main pieces that fit together and a couple other fragments.

It would be great to know what I have (if anything).

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

You have petrified wood. Your last photo show a piece of silicified wood with a hydration rind. Water hydrates the silica on the outside of pieces causing the outside to be lighter than the inside. Most pieces of bone do not show this feature.

Here is a neat piece with an elongated knot.
