While scrambling up a drainage I found this. I was hoping for a little help with ID. there are 3 main pieces that fit together and a couple other fragments. DPS Ammonite Posted September 17, 2016 Share Posted September 17, 2016 You have petrified wood. Your last photo show a piece of silicified wood with a hydration rind. Water hydrates the silica on the outside of pieces causing the outside to be lighter than the inside. Most pieces of bone do not show this feature.
