jaym
Found this walking on a creek bank in southern Missouri picked up a small piece and it separated from the rock easily so I grabbed up the rest. It looks like bone to me but the shape is odd. I did some searching and Chert nodule sounds possible.
fifbrindacier
Hi, i think you're right with your chert nodule ID, but maybe more close ups on détails of it would show Something else. Bozark
Almost certainly a chert nodule or other mineral deposit. Whereabouts in missouri?
jaym
It does kinda look like an animal burrow that filled in with sediment. I live in Ozark Bozark! thanks for the welcomes!
abyssunder
Maybe it is weathered tripolitic chert, like the one in the picture below. picture from here other reference here 2 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. abyssunder
Similar pseudofossils mimicking bones are common finds in Missouri, as can be seen at BCMNH 's webpage.
