ynot
I found 5 or 6 basic fish tooth shapes in this nano matrix. I am getting tired so just a teaser... Will post some more another day. ynot
Next one is 2 pictures of the same tooth. I think the second picture looks like a hatching egg. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." ynot
In the regular micro matrix I did not find any teeth that looked like the barracuda teeth I found in east coast matrix. I did find these though. Are they? Tooth 1. Tooth 2. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." ynot
And this fish tooth. And a little thing I am unsure of. Did they have "jelly bellies" back then? Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." ynot
A couple more unknowns. I think this one is a ray tooth, but it looks different than the species I am familiar with. And I do not know what to make of this fragment. It does have a concave side. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Malone
I tried to find (to no avail) how many known types of teeth there are. It's truly amazing how many you can determine!

I have only found 2 of these teeth with the pronounced cusps on both sides of the main blade. The other came out of the regular micro matrix. 3 pictures of same tooth Tony Great specimens and great pictures. The teeth shown above are from the symphysis area of the jaw. Al Dente
10 hours ago, ynot said: Do You have any idea about the unknowns? Especially this one... I think this tooth is from a skate, probably Raja. Your jelly bean looks like a typical phosphate pellet and the tooth posted right after your jelly bean is a breeding male Rhinobatos tooth.

Tony I agree with Eric. The above tooth looks like Raja and the one unknown ray tooth looks like a male Rhinobatos. Raja are not common from STH. See the pictures below of two Raja specimens from the whale pit which used to be a part of the Ernst ranch. Raja teeth can have a wide variety of both root and crown features and can have especially crown feature differences between male and female teeth.
